Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he lost control at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
